The PGX golf club company has been highly visible lately with pro signings, new TV ads, and new releases. The prominence has certainly increased because of signings like Zack Johnson, Pat Perez, Charl Schwartzel, Ryan Moore, Charles Howell, and Billy Horschel. And on the women’s side, it doesn’t get better than having Rolex #1 Lydia Ko alongside Brittany Lang and Ryann O’Toole.
PGX clubs are not for the faint-hearted (especially anyone who looks nervously at their credit card statement). And Lydia Ko’s new putter is no exception.
The Bat Attack officially went into Ko’s bag in mid-April after she’d played with a prototype in the season’s first tournaments. The company says that Ko ‘inspired’ the design.
The ‘Bat’ in the ‘modified’ mallet head style comes from what look like wings on the head. They are precisely 1.68 inches apart, or, the diameter of a golf ball. Together with the aiming line, the wings also help in alignment. They come in different weights. The 350-gram models are made of stainless steel, the heavier 470 and 500-gram models are made of tungsten – depending on preference. The milled face has a TPE insert for a better sound and consistent feel.
The shaft has a double bend to it that creates “a half-shaft of offset.” According to PGX, it adds up to distance control even on miss-hits, higher MOI for less twisting, and a $550 price tag. Check out Lydia’s new flat stick at www.PXG.com.
