As I look out my office window at yet another wet and windy day and consider that we just experienced the wettest October on record, I’m sure I’m not alone in wishing for better golfing weather. While the elusive Pacific Northwest sun will undoubtedly shine down on our region before too long, the prospect of heading south to Palm Springs, CA– with its promise of warmer climes and terrific golf– is a mighty attractive one. We asked contributor and Palm Springs golf expert Judd Spicer to put pen to paper (well; fingers to keyboard!) and give us his take on what an awesome weeklong golfing trip itinerary in Palm Springs looks like. Golfing, entertainment, and gastronomical recommendations galore; Judd has got you covered in his story, “Swing And Play In Palm Springs—Your Itinerary For A Week In Golf Paradise.”
It’s holiday gift giving season, and we’re all looking for that perfect gift for the golfer in our life. Check out Holiday Gift Guide-Part II for even more ideas. Check out Nike Golf’s New Air Zoom 90 IT men’s golf shoe, Cutter and Buck’s CB WeatherTEC Trailhead jacket, and Northwest-based Seamus Golf and their iconic individually hand-cut and sewn head covers. We’ve got you covered!
Also this month, Eric Hambleton, General Manager of Club Champion in Bellevue, WA and three-time Mizuno Top 100 club fitter gives us his advice and expert opinion on how best to approach and ensure a successful custom club fitting. From personal experience, I highly recommend making the time for a personal club fitting; in fact, it has helped my game– and my confidence– immeasurably.
As we continue our focus on growing the game of golf, we introduce you this month to two of Washington and Oregon’s junior golfing ranks: Isabel Brinck from Seattle and Ashley Zhu from Salem, OR. Impressive young players are doing well and enjoying the game of golf! Good luck to you both in 2017!
And, to enjoy this wonderful game of golf we all need good health to keep us moving and out on the course, right? Regular fitness contributor Doctor Harry Sese (aka “The Golfing Doc”) responds to a reader’s interesting question about something we probably don’t give much thought to: breathing! Learn how to breathe the right way in his column titled “Are You Breathing Correctly?” Great tips from ‘Doc’, as always.
With so much more to digest and enjoy this month, we encourage you to enjoy. And please take a moment to share with your golfing friends. The digital magazine is free and can be viewed at any time on most digital devices, including your smartphone! And, if you have a story idea or just want to reach out to say hello or recommend a golf-related story, please email me directly by clicking the blue circle the left of this page or via Cameron@golftodaynw.com.
